NEW CONVERSE RUBBER TRACKS SHORT FILM TAKES VIEWERS BEHIND THE SCENES OF A SXSW STUDIO EXPERIENCE
New Short Film Features Britt Daniel of Spoon and Converse Rubber Tracks Band The Two Lips
BOSTON, MASS. (April 21, 2015) – Today, CONVERSE Inc. releases a short film that captures the recording experience at Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up studio in Austin during this year’s SXSW Music Conference and Festival. The film features emerging artists The Two Lips from San Marcos, Texas and Britt Daniel, frontman of critically acclaimed Austin-based rock band Spoon, who mentored the band over the course of their two day recording session.
For the fifth consecutive year, bands from all over Texas had the opportunity to record their original music at the Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up studio alongside a team of experienced engineers at no cost. Out of six artists selected this year to record between March 13 – March 19, the Two Lips were handpicked by Daniel for this unique mentoring opportunity.
“We were really humbled and excited to work with Britt Daniel,” said the Two Lips of their experience. “We received such priceless and valuable insight about the recording process. We’re grateful for the opportunity and excited about the music we recorded at the Converse Rubber Tracks Studio.”
This year marked the first time the Converse Rubber Tracks pop-up took place at 12th Street Sound in Austin. Built in the shell of an old church in downtown Austin, 12th Street Sound studio is a high-end recording studio designed by internationally-known studio architect Wes Lachot. Notable artists who have recorded here include Foo Fighters, Gloriana, Lady Antebellum, Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly and Cory Morrow.
